My brand-new book “Investing for British Beginners” will show you the simple path to wealth even if you:
You might have seen me on your social feed or maybe even in articles on Fortune & The BBC!
I’m passionate about teaching personal finance to Brits and showing them that investing is for everyone, not just the super-rich.
Only 6% of British adults have a Stocks and Shares ISA, and I’m on a mission to change that. This beginners guide will give you the confidence to open an investment account and start your journey today.
I get it. When I first started investing, I was terrified of losing money.
The stock market can be risky. When you invest, the value of your money can go down as well as up and that thought scared me. I didn’t think it was worth risking the small amount of cash I had.
Nowadays, my portfolio fluctuates by thousands of pounds a month – yes, both up and down – and I barely pay any attention to it. You won’t either once you’ve read my book and understand why.
It’s because I’m invested for the long-term in global index funds & ETFs (don’t worry, I explain what they are in the book!). I am not investing in individual stocks where the value of my investment could go to zero if the company I invested in went bust. That would be terrifying.
Instead, with index funds and ETFs, you invest in effectively “the whole market”. When the stock market is doing well, your portfolio goes up. When it’s doing poorly, your portfolio goes down.
The good news is the stock market has returned about 10% a year for the last 50 years. That’s not 10% every year; sometimes it has been +40%, others -30%. It’s a bumpy ride, but it averaged 10%.
Know that the past is no guarantee of future success, and there are never any sure things with investing. But the stock market has been the single biggest wealth generator we have ever known, and there’s no sign of that slowing down.
Due to the power of compound interest (another thing I explain in the book) investing just £4 a day starting in your early 20’s can make you a millionaire.
But it takes time.
If you’re looking for a get-rich-quick scheme, this ain’t it.
This is, what I consider to be a sensible passive investing strategy that EVERYONE should be using. It’s easy to understand, easy to set up and requires no ongoing maintenance.
It’s truly passive. Once you have set it up (which takes hardly any time at all) you are set for decades to come. It’s so simple.
You can let your nest egg grow in the background for you and like me, you won’t sweat what’s happening in the stock market. It sounds remarkable, but I assure you, once you’ve read the book, you’ll feel the same.
This may be a beginners guide, but by the end you’ll be a confident, sophisticated investor who sees a clear path to a brighter future.
